| The present study aimed to explore Iranian EFL teachers' emotions, their antecedents, and the regulation strategies employed in online teaching. While the shift to online instruction has been pervasive, its unique impact on the emotional landscape of teachers, in contexts such as Iran, requires further examination. This study is grounded in the theoretical perspective that teachers' emotional experiences and their regulation constitute a core, affective dimension of Pedagogical Content Knowledge (PCK), which is essential for adaptive teaching practice. A qualitative inquiry was conducted for this purpose, which included a sample of 6 EFL instructors interviewed using semi-structured interviews at the Kashmar Higher Education Institute. Data collection was designed to solicit rich, narrative accounts of the participants' experiences. The responses were recorded, transcribed, and then analyzed using a systematic thematic analysis approach to discern a deeper understanding of the participants' emotions, thoughts, and actions in online teaching. The findings explored the complex interplay of emotions, perceptions, and regulation strategies adopted by EFL instructors to adapt to the challenging dynamics of online teaching. The results reveal a landscape marked by significant challenges, including frustration with technological issues and a sense of isolation, yet they underline the proactive and adaptive strategies, both cognitive and behavioral, that teachers developed in response. The practical implications of these findings, pointing toward the need for targeted professional development and institutional support systems, are discussed within the framework of supporting teachers' affective PCK. |
