Teacher Credibility and Its Relationship with Pedagogical Content Knowledge in ELT Contexts

چکیده مقاله
The research investigated teacher credibility in relation to pedagogical content knowledge through surveys of 100 active English language teachers who worked in different educational institutions. The research investigated student assessment of teacher credibility through their advanced English language teaching content knowledge in classroom settings. The research used two established assessment tools to measure teacher credibility and pedagogical content knowledge in a quantitative correlational study. The research used descriptive statistics together with correlation analysis and regression modelling to study the relationships between the studied variables. The regression model successfully explained most of the variation in teacher credibility which validated the research findings about the strong connection between teacher expertise and their classroom performance. The research results demonstrated that teachers who possessed better pedagogical content knowledge received higher credibility ratings from their students regarding their competence and trustworthiness and interpersonal care. The research results offer vital direction to teacher education programs which focus on teaching method development and classroom management skills for English language teaching environments.
