Enhancing Reflective Teaching Practices to Improve Instructional Effectiveness among Iranian EFL Teachers

If you've ever taught in a classroom, you understand a unique challenge. While it is commonly believed that improving teachers' pedagogical skills leads to better teaching practices, there is limited evidence to support this claim. With this in mind, the current study aimed to improve teaching practices and self-reflection activities among Iranian English as a Foreign Language (EFL) teachers. The study explores ways to enhance teaching effectiveness through reflective practices, ultimately seeking to boost the educational performance of Iranian EFL educators. In the initial phase, observation sessions and document analysis were conducted to identify areas needing improvement among the educators. During the implementation phase, these observation sessions, along with informal interviews, were used to examine the impact of professional development on the teachers' performance. The findings revealed that educators not only gained a greater awareness of the importance of reflection but also showed an overall improvement in their teaching performance.
