چکیده مقاله
The English training curriculum in Iranian Technical and Vocational Education and Training institutions does not always correspond with the English proficiency requirements of airline flight attendants. This study looks at flight attendants' ESP curriculum design, essential language skills, and English language needs. Five instructors and 85 undergraduate flight attendants who were taking courses in English for their field requirements took part in this study. Semi-structured interviews, questionnaires, and classroom observations were used to gather data. The results show that speaking abilities were prioritized over reading, writing, and listening in ESP classes. The study created a prototype guide utilizing the Wheeler curriculum development model to improve ESP instruction in vocational contexts based on a systematic needs analysis. Teachers of both ESP and flight attendant subjects stressed the importance of better teamwork. This study underscores the need for a more responsive and professionally aligned ESP curriculum to better equip Iranian flight attendant students for the linguistic demands of their future careers.
