| چکیده مقاله |
| This article examines the appropriateness of using video games to teach Generation Alpha, defined as those born from 2010 onwards. The emergence of Generation Alpha presents both challenges and opportunities, particularly in the design of their learning experiences. As digital natives, these children are accustomed to interactive and enjoyable modes of learning, which makes it necessary to rethink teaching approaches now that interactive learning technologies are widely available. Educators must adapt methodologies and pedagogies to meet the needs of this generation. Because these learners are highly connected and enjoy engaging with technology and interactive media, video games provide a unique opportunity for language acquisition. Over the past few decades, research on video games and their role in education has steadily increased, reflecting their evolution from a simplistic form of entertainment into complex, interactive educational tools. This article reviews and synthesizes current research on the educational benefits of video games, including their influence on language abilities and the implications for educators. Findings suggest that incorporating video games into the classroom positively impacts vocabulary and grammar acquisition, enhances learners’ communicative competence, and maximizes engagement and motivation among younger learners. Furthermore, the study highlights challenges and considerations related to the use of video games in teaching English. |
